The club is fortunate in having excellent facilities for various target disciplines. This is due to a long, distinguished history and the enthusiasm and hard work of several generations of shooters. The members are friendly, talented and helpful and extend a warm welcome to everyone interested in the sport they love.
Established in 1906 as the Maidenhead & District Rifle Club in response to a call by Lord Roberts for civilian rifle clubs to be set up to teach the art of marksmanship. The recognition of the Club was confirmed when Lord Roberts visited the Club on April 21st 1906. In April 1907 it became a member of the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs, the organisation known today as the National Smallbore Rifle Association (NSRA), and the certificate of confirmation of this membership still hangs in our clubroom. Over the years the Club shot at several venues until, in 1968, it amalgamated with Woodlands Park Rifle Club and the 2nd Royal Berks H.G. Rifle Club and commenced to build the present range in Braywick Park. The range was officially opened in September 1970 by the Mayor of Maidenhead, Councilor H. Griffin.
The name Maidenhead & District Rifle Club was retained until March 1986 when, due to the increasing interest and success of pistol shooting, it was changed to Maidenhead Rifle & Pistol Club. Following the ban placed on pistol shooting by the Government in 1997 the name was changed again to the Maidenhead Target Shooting Club (MTSC).
The club continues to grow and still boasts one of the best selection of smallbore shooting facilities in the area.
